President's Volunteer Service Award                  

The President’s Volunteer Service Award program was created to encourage and recognize outstanding volunteer service.  This Award honors those individuals who have made serving a central part of their lives, building up their communities and inspiring others to do so.       

How do you earn the President’s Volunteer Service Award?

The award recognizes youth who contribute hours of service to their community within a 12-month period - March 1st to February 28th of the following year.  Awards are based on the following ages and levels of service:

Volunteer Service = Volunteering is the practice of people working on behalf of others without being motivated by/or receiving financial or material gain.  The community good must be the principal reason for doing the work, as well as the result. 

  

What activity does not apply?

      *Paid service

      *Proselytizing (attempting to convert someone to a religious faith)

      *Activities that are a part of church/worship service (greeter, choir, server, etc)

      *Service/activity that is required as a part of a school class project or a specific course.

      *Court-ordered community service

      *Lobbying

      *Service at a for-profit business, except for licensed health care entities

      *Service provided to your immediate family (parents & siblings)     

IMPORTANT NOTE

Volunteer Connection referrals need to account for a minimum of

10 hours if you are 15 or older at the end of the  service year

5 hours if you are under 15 at the end of the service year.
